Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet and add the diced onion.
Saute over medium heat until softened around 5-6 minutes.
Add in the can of crushed tomatoes and chopped basil and cook stirring frequently for 5-10 more minutes.
Pour into a small oven proof dish and place slices of the goats cheese across the top plus a few more whole basil leaves.
Place the dish onto a sheet pan and place in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the goats cheese is melted and the tomatoes bubbling.
Slice the ciabatta loaf thickly and lay the slices of bread on a sheet pan. Drizzle with olive oil.
Place under the broiler until the bread is toasted then flip and toast the other side.
Drizzle the bread with a little more olive oil and serve.
