This Decadent Chocolate Poke Cake is rich, moist, and downright irresistible. It starts with a boxed cake mix, but the fudgy filling and creamy frosting make it taste completely homemade.
1boxed chocolate cake mix plus ingredients required on the box
1cupsemi-sweet chocolate chipsmelted (170g)
Additional chocolate for garnish
Frosting
¾cupcocoa powder65g
1cupbuttersoftened (225g)
2½cupspowdered sugar300g
2teaspoonsvanilla extract
¼cupheavy cream60ml
Pinchof salt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350ºF / 175ºC degrees and grease and line a 9” x 13” baking tin.
Prepare the cake mix as per the packet instructions and bake as instructed until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely.
Using the handle end of a wooden spoon, poke large holes all over the cake.
Mix together the melted chocolate and condensed milk and pour all over the cake allowing it to flow into the holes.
To make the frosting:
Beat together the butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and salt then beat in the heavy cream. Add a little more cream if the mixture is too thick.
Spread all over the cake with a spatula and then top with grated chocolate or chocolate curls.
