Total Time 45 minutesmins
Ingredients
1store bought freshly baked sourdough loaf
1stick ofsalted butter
1bunch ofsage leaves
1 ½cups of sharp cheddar grated
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375℉.
Melt the butter in a small pan over a medium heat. Allow it to bubble gently until browned which will take around 8-10 minutes.Once browned, chop the sage leaves and add to the butter reserving just a few to top the loaf.
Place a piece of parchment paper onto a sheet pan and place the loaf on top. Use a bread knife to make fairly deep slices all the way across the loaf then turn it and make slices in the opposite direction. Be careful not to cut all the way through the loaf.
Pour the melted butter over the loaf pulling apart the slices as you do to allow the butter to run between the cutsTake the grated cheese and push it between the cuts in the loaf ensuring to get some in every slice then sprinkle any remaining cheese over the top. Top with the remaining age leave then cover with foil.
Place into the oven for 20 minutes then remove the foil and allow to bake for another 10 minutes.
