There’s something about Halloween that brings out the playful side in all of us, especially in the kitchen. These Mummy Dogs are proof that spooky food can still be delicious! They’re flaky, golden, and just the right mix of cute and creepy – the kind of treat that makes everyone smile when they hit the table.
The easiest Halloween treat
If you’ve got a packet of store-bought pie crust and some hot dogs in the fridge, you’re already halfway there. This recipe couldn’t be simpler, which makes it perfect for busy parents or anyone hosting a Halloween get-together. All you need to do is slice the dough into strips and wrap it around each hot dog, mummy-style. The overlapping pastry gives that fun, bandaged look – and once they’re baked, they turn beautifully golden and flaky.
The best part? No special ingredients or fancy techniques required. Just a little time in the oven and you’ve got yourself a tray full of edible mummies ready to steal the show.
Adding the Spooky finishing touch
Once they’ve cooled slightly, the fun really begins. Use tiny olive pieces for eyes and stick them on with a dab of mustard – suddenly, your Mummy Dogs come to life! Kids absolutely love helping with this part, and it’s a great way to get them involved in the Halloween prep.
Serve these with extra mustard and ketchup “webs” for dipping, and you’ve got a snack that’s every bit as festive as it is tasty.
Serving Ideas
These little mummies make a perfect addition to a Halloween buffet table, movie night spread, or even as a savory bite before trick-or-treating begins. Pair them with spooky punch or pumpkin soup for a full-on themed meal.
Cute, crispy, and full of flavor – these Mummy Dogs are the perfect way to add a little frightful fun to your Halloween celebrations.
