Mozzarella Sticks

Cheesy favorite

My daughter LOVES mozzarella so I am always looking for new ways to serve it for her. These definitely went down well in our house and now a regular on the Neville menu!

If there’s one appetizer that never fails to disappear fast in our house, it’s mozzarella sticks. Honestly, they don’t even make it off the plate before hands start grabbing. Golden and crispy on the outside with that gooey, stretchy cheese pull inside, they’re the ultimate comfort food that works for just about any occasion. Whether you’re serving them up as an after-school snack for the kids, setting them out for a cozy family movie night, or putting together a platter for a party, these little sticks of cheesy joy are always a winner.

One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare ahead of time. You can bread the mozzarella sticks, pop them into the freezer, and keep them ready for when those snack cravings hit. It means you’re never far away from a plate of hot, crispy, cheesy perfection. Plus, it’s a great one to get the kids involved in. They love helping coat the cheese sticks, and of course, they definitely don’t mind helping taste-test when they come out of the pan!

The real key to making these mozzarella sticks irresistible is in the coating. It’s all about that perfect breadcrumb mixture, seasoned just right to give you a crunchy, flavorful bite every time. When you fry them, the outside turns golden brown and crisp while the mozzarella inside melts into that dreamy, creamy center we all love. And if you’re not into frying, you can also bake them for a slightly lighter option that still gives you plenty of crunch.

Serve these with warm marinara sauce or even ranch dressing, and you’ve got the kind of snack that instantly feels like a restaurant favorite – only better, because you made them fresh at home.

Mozarella Sticks

Crunchy on the outside and perfectly gooey inside, these are always a hit in our house. The secret is freezing them before frying so the cheese stays intact while the breadcrumb coating gets irresistibly crisp. Serve with marinara sauce and watch them vanish – just like in your favorite restaurant, but even better.

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • One cup of panko breadcrumbs 50g
  • Two eggs
  • Two tablespoons of water
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Seasoned salt
  • Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  • In a bowl, stir together the flour, salt and pepper.

  • Place the tray in the freezer for one hour to firm the mozzarella sticks.
  • Heat the oil over a medium heat and add in only enough mozzarella sticks so that the pan is not crowded as otherwise they will not cook evenly and the temperature of the oil will lower.
  • Cook until golden brown on both sides (around three minutes) then remove and drain on kitchen paper.
  • Repeat until all cheese sticks are cooked.
  • Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side and a sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese.
